The Dead Rabbit

“TWO INNOCENT GUYS WITH JUST A HEADFUL OF DREAMS AND STARDUST IN THEIR EYES. THAT’S WHO WE ELBOWED PAST AS WE HAULED OUT OF JFK, LOOKED AROUND AND SAID, “OKAY, NEW YORK. YOU’LL DO.”

The Dead Rabbit New York, Winner of the 2016 Drinks International award for World’s Best Bar, the downtown drink den was founded by Belfast natives Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry who wanted to create a bar that was a mix of the cocktail lounge they had worked in and the pub they had drank in. “So we searched for a point in New York history where cocktails and Irish culture met”

The result is a cozy three-story bar in the Financial District inspired by John Morrissey, the leader of the Dead Rabbits, an Irish-American gang from the 1850s. Structured like a classic American tavern and decorated like a traditional Irish pub.

The drinks list is expansive — full of home crafted cocktails and a vast list of Irish Whiskys. The ground floor is a no-nonsense honest everyday pub full of craft beers, bottled punches, Whiskys, Irish coffee, and Guinness. The 2nd floor is the “Cocktail Cathedral” and where you’ll find the unique offerings that they’ve become best known for.

The food menu is a collection of Irish and British classics like Fish and Chips, Lobster Deviled Eggs, Irish Oysters, Short Rib Sliders with Garlic Aioli and red onion jam, classic Ham and cheese toast with Irish cheddar and Raclette Smoked Ham, Guinness pie, and of course the traditional Sunday roast.
