Omar’s La Ranita
The 4,000-square-foot space that houses the members-only OMAR’S and the restaurant La Ranita in Greenwich Village has become a local and celeb hotspot almost overnight. The culturally-rich NYC neighborhood is already home to so many beloved eateries, galleries, and boutiques, but both La Ranita and OMAR’s solidified restaurateur Omar Hernandez’s role in the hard-to-please New York scene.
La Ranita sits up front, an open-to-the-public restaurant that garners attention for its well-prepared dishes and decadent display of flavor. The Art Deco-inspired spot, helmed by Kenny Cuomo, boasts a stunning collection of Mediterranean plates.
Worth mentioning are the Malepaque Oysters served with a cucumber mignonette, Papas Bravas with Bayonne ham and gruyere, Gambas Al Ajillo with Serrano ham, garlic chips and paprika, the Pasta Sottile with poached egg, Serrano ham and Parmesan, the Organic Chicken served with turnips, mushroom and foie gras vin, Grilled Pork Chop with apricot compote, fingerling potato and mustard, and the Cloumage Cheesecake served with pecorino sable and pea shoots.
