Wimbledon 2016
Though the two-week long Wimbledon championship is the oldest tennis championship tournament as far as the sport is concerned, it’s also one of the league’s most memorable and exciting. Known as one of four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, Wimbledon has taken place at the All England Club in London since 1877, and it draws the most infamous and up-and-coming tennis stars to its courts. Taking place from June 27 through July 10, competitors will compete for the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Final in search of the Wimbledon glory and bragging rights. This year, the iconic Novak Djokovic will take the grass-lined courts in defense of his 2015 title, fresh off his fifth Grand Slam title in six years.
Bovada.lv positions Djokovic as the odds-on favorite of the 2016 Wimbledon match, and it’s easy to see why. But Djokovic will have to oust Andy Murray once again for the title, and Murray is also having an incredible run this season. According to International Business Times, Murray placed in both the Australian Open and French Open, losing in the finals to Djokovic. Serena Williams leads the women’s rankings, a wholly unsurprising fact for anyone who’s ever even heard the star’s name uttered in the same breath as the word “tennis.”
