Standard Culture — Print Edition

With five hotels in New York City, Miami, and Los Angeles, it was only a matter of time before The Standard expanded beyond its city-based properties. First introduced in 2014, The Standard hotel’s in-print version of its cultural website gives voice to the brand’s archived stories. Instead of little shampoo bottles and complimentary soaps, the print edition now stands as the hotels very own coffee table, a means of reminding patrons that the hotel is there, always there, when you need it.

Joey Jalleo, the vice president of culture and communications for the Standard, explained “By reversing industry trends and going from digital to print, we are reinforcing the continued desire of having paper in hand.”

At its launch in November of 2014, the 16-page issue included interviews with American singer Banks, Susan Sarandon as the 40th anniversary of the Rocky Horror Picture Show approached, and the Iranian artist Farhad Moshiri on his show, “Float,” at the Galerie Perrotin on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The print magazine is free at Standard hotels and other participating locations.
