Ladies and gentlemen June is here and with it come the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards held in Santa Monica, California at the Barker Hanger inside Santa Monica Airport. The MTV Awards is a film and television awards show which is presented annually on MTV where the nominees are decided by producers and executives at MTV and the winners are decided online by the general public. The voting is done through MTV’s official website and the winners have presented the awards live during the ceremony, however, for the past couple of years, the awards show has been prerecorded and broadcasted a day later for the public. Last year’s awards saw many extraordinary winners, from Tiffany Haddish who not only hosted the show but won awards for her performance on Girls Trip to the cast of Black Panther who won the award for best movie. Other notable winners last year were the cast of stranger things which took home the award for Best Show and Millie Bobby Brown who took home the award for Best Performance in a show for her role as Eleven on Stranger Things. When and Where The MTV Awards Takes Place?

The 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards take place every year in Santa Monica, California at the Barker Hanger inside Santa Monica Airport on the 17th of June at 9:00 PM PST. The event Is organized every year by the executives of MTV and it is put in place to honour those actors that have had extraordinary performances both in TV and Cinema. Moving right along to this year’s nominees and favourites in the top categories, We will start with the award for Best Movie with the nominees being Avengers: Endgame, BlacKkKlansman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Us. From this category and based on what has been posted on social media it is safe to assume that the general public will pick Avengers: Endgame as the favourite to win this award. Going hand in hand with the best movie is as you may have guest Best Performance In a Movie and even though you would assume that many of the main actors from the best movie nominee would be chosen for this award as well none of them are actually nominated. Instead for the category of Best Performance in a Movie we have: Amandla Stenberg for The Hate U Give, Lady Gaga for A Star is Born, Lupita Nyong’o for the US, Remi Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody and last but not least Sandra Bullock for Bird Box. Based on recent articles the favourite for this category seems to be Remi Malek, however, all of these actors and actresses have outstanding performances so it will be interesting to see who the winner will be.

Our last two top categories are Best TV show and Best Performance in a TV show. So to kick off our last two categories is Best Show in which the nominees are: Big Mouth, Game of Thrones, Riverdale, Schitt’s Creek and The Haunting of Hill House. Unlike the previous categories, the two categories for Best Show and Best Performance in a show do have some overlap with Game of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke being nominated for Best Performance as well. Others include Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale, Gina Rodriquez for Jane the Virgin, Jason Mitchell for The Chi and lastly Kiernan Shipka for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. There is no clear favorite for this categories with so many extraordinary performances especially that of Elizabeth Moss, but we would have to give the edge to Game of thrones Star Emilia Clarke for her performance as Daenerys Targaryen. Emilia Clarke’s 8 seasons on Game of Thrones were some of her best work yet, so beating her to the punch is going to be very difficult, especially with the fan base the show has received as the seasons have gone by. All of the movies TV shows actors and actresses that have been nominated for these awards are all deserving of them, but only one of each will take home the prize. Make sure to watch the wards to see if your favourites won.
