Meet the Official Watch of the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Swiss luxury watchmakers Hublot recently introduced their official 2014 Word Cup watch in Brazil, just months ahead of Baselworld 2014. The stunning timepiece, affectionately dubbed the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono, is a nod to the “Soccer timers” of the ‘70s (special chronographs made with markings that counted the 45-minute halves of each match).

The Big Bang features a specially-built mechanism that’s been optimized to keep track of each match’s time, with two retrograde hands to keep track of seconds and minutes while the center-set window keeps track of which half. A separate, but smaller, window located at the six o’clock position on the face of the timepiece also records main timekeeping so that users can wear it off the pitch.

Powered solely by Hublot’s first bi-retrograde caliber the HUB1260 movement, the Big Bang comes with dial-coupling column-wheel technology, a self-winding 72-hour power reserve, 45.5 mm Unico-style Big Bang case in either “King Gold” or ceramic, a carbon fiber bezel, Titanium “H” screw and a textured rubber strap.

Limited to just 300 pieces, the timely timepiece sells for $26,300 USD in the ceramic style and $42,400 USD in the King Gold style.
