Giovanni Lipari’s The Death Of Youth
The Death Of Youth is an interesting photography project, during which Giovanni Lipari shot more than 100 subjects….all off them women and mostly nude. It’s also quite useful to understand Lipari’s intentions for the project, and how his outlook evolved as he advanced in the work. Lipari writes in describing The Death Of Youth, “…I discovered that I also had to confront the negative consequences that come with it. For example, many peers criticized my artwork, claiming that I was using it as an excuse to take pictures of naked women. However, this was certainly not my intention. The photos are not meant to arouse viewers, but rather provide them with the memory of their own youthful fantasies. For me personally, the photos were a means to conclude this fantasy from my youth and to produce a project that fully embodied it.” Overall, a provocative take on his role as a photographer and how we all experience the realities of growing older. Below is a small selection of images taken by Giovanni’s for his site, The Death Of Youth.
