Tonteria

London may not be explicitly known for its Mexican tapas restaurants, but Tonteria may be changing that. The Mexican tapas and tequila lounge located in Sloane Square serves up bite-sized Mexican tapas alongside house-mixed specialty tequila cocktails like The Mayan Pyramid (made with Jose Cuervo Blanco Resposado and Anejo tequila mixed with raspberry, lime and grapefruit), the Lucky Luchador (made with Don Julio Blanco, fresh mint, lime and elderflower with pressed apple) and the Tequila Slammer, made with Don Julio Blanco and served with a bottle of Perrier Jouet Champagne.

And the tapas are just as tasty as the tequila: crayfish ceviche that’s been marinated in tomatillo salsa and served in a crispy taco cup with shredded bay gem lettuce, pico de gallo and guacamole; pan-fried fried padron peppers served with extra virgin olive oil and coarse maldon salt; mini pork shoulder burritos slow-cooked Yucatán style and served with Bananero salsa, black beans and rice; and crispy squid served with tomatillo salsa and lime. But it’s the Mexican Mudbath that has guests raving; it’s three jars filled with frozen margaritas served alongside mini skewers of churros, marshmallows and strawberries in a melted dark chocolate bath.
