The Peninsula, Tokyo

Ever since its conception, the lavish Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo has drawn a steady stream of crowds for more than just the once-in-a-lifetime-views (the hotel faces the Imperial Palace Gardens). The restaurant offers eateries for both modern and established guests: The trendy rooftop restaurant and bar Peter, with 360 views of the downtown Marunouchi district, Hei Fung Terrance, renown for its authentic Cantonese cuisine, Kyoto Tsuruya, which boasts an upscale, contemporary “light meal” and tasting menu and lastly, Traditional Afternoon Tea, located in the lobby. Shops and nightlife hug the hotel, with plenty of things to do within walking distance. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and modern, with a seating area, bathroom and separate shower space. And the staff makes note of the finer things: a cold towel, bottles of water and unmatched room service offerings.
