The Book Club – London

You wouldn’t think that a night spent with The Book Club would be anything worth bragging about, but the laidback, lived-in basement bar has London locals vying for entry. The popular bar – plain, comfortable and effortlessly cool – has made a mark for its simple décor, buzzing following, and dynamite cocktails like the Don’t Go To Dalston, the Lorraine Kelly, Get Figgy With It, and Red Sky At Night – all unique to the Stratford-based establishment.

The eclectic bar doesn’t just serve up a stellar cocktail menu, though. The Book Club features a breakfast and lunch menu, with breakfast offerings served promptly from 8 am on. The fare – pesto eggs, buttermilk pancakes, porridge, smoked salmon, and grilled sea bass fillet to name a few – is satisfying and clings to The Book Club’s mantra: simple, deserving, and worthwhile.

Crowds flock to the bar nightly because of its well-known and highly anticipated ping pong tournaments, live music the likes of DJs and bands from all over, film dance-a-longs, date nights, drawing and video game nights, and lunchtime discos. The Book Club offers guests a taste of everythi
