MoMa
You don’t have to be an art aficionado to appreciate the incredible collection assembled in The Museum of Modern Art. In fact, if you’ve ever flipped through a book on modern art or browsed a local poster store, you’ll instantly recognize a number of the masterpieces that adorn the MoMA.
Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali, and Warhol are but a handful of the many artistic giants on permanent exhibition in this venerable Midtown space. Equally impressive are the works that you’ll find outside. The Rockefeller Sculpture Garden is a breathtaking area that anchors the entire museum and lends to the overall appeal.
The building itself is a bit of a conversation piece, as the MoMA underwent a nearly half billion dollar transformation under the direction of Yoshio Taniguchi. The renovations were completed in 2004 and have greatly increased the amount of artwork on display, as well as established impressive sight lines throughout the museum for visitors.
