Le Marché St. George

Off the beaten path on the corner of St. George and East 28th, Le Marché St. George has become an international sensation, published in the New York Times, Canadian House and Home, and Monocle Magazine. Though first-opened in the new millennium, the café maintains an old-world vibe, with simple colors and shelving, a purposeful lack of ornamentation, and a menu scribbled on a chalk-painted wall above.

Le Marché St. George is in many ways a café turned general store turned event space turned home. On its site, it promises “everyone is welcome”, and it’s a place where “real people make real things: a Christmas event space where Santa drinks beers and takes photos all day with families to raise funds for the food bank; a spontaneous local where musicians come to play.”

In addition to all the usual suspects (fresh-brewed coffee, teas, and lattes), Le Marché also features a pattiserie, quiches, flatbreads, pot pies, sweet crêpes, savoury crêpes, and more. They also sell a variety of goods through their online shop.
