Hotel Escondido

A member of the Design Hotels group, Hotel Escondido sits proudly atop a virgin beach in Oaxaca, Mexico. Just a short ride away from Mexico’s buzzing surf mecca, Puerto Escondido, the hotel provides something to guests that other areas don’t: Peaceful, tranquil stays amidst the hustle and bustle of Mexico’s biggest tourist destinations. A 50-meter-long pool runs parallel to the hotel, acting as a moat between the city and the refuge of Escondido.

Escondido features sixteen “palapas” (cabanas), fourteen of which come with king-sized beds and two that come with queen-sized sleepers. Each cabana includes its own pool and a unique “chill out” zone for guests to unwind, relax and enjoy. Painted in traditional vibrant Mexican colors, the hotel is bright and airy without being overwhelming or tacky.

As for the hotel’s amenities, there’s an Underground Club that’s exactly what it sounds like and a spa that offers indigenous spa treatments to guests, including a hot steam shower.
