Dinings

A contemporary Japanese tapas and sushi-style restaurant in Marylebone, Dinings has been a neighborhood staple since it first opened six years ago. Closing in on its first decade of business, Dinings has since created its own take on the tranditional Izakaya cuisine. Combining Japanese flavors with modern European cuisine, Dinings now serves one of the most culturally flamboyant and exciting menus in all of the UK. By sourcing the freshest, most sustainable, and local ingredients, Dinings ensures that guests are not only getting a taste of the classic Izakaya experience, but they’re also merging together flavors more common in modern European dining.

Menu favorites include the Yellowtail sashimi with wasabi jalapeno vinaigrette topped with horseradish salsa and British Caviar, sizzling hand-dived Scottish scallops with yuzu garlic chili soy, a “Dinings style” braised Yagu beef cha-siu bun, a Scottish salmon “zuke” style topped with caramelized onion soy jam, a Scottish native lobster “gunkan” style with yuzu garlic sauce and British caviar, and an exciting a la carte menu of hand rolls. Food critic Matthew Norman of The Guardian dubbed Dinings’ nasu miso worthy of the Booker-Nominated Modern Classic award. Said Norman: “This absolute stunner of a starter comprised half a giant aubergine cooked to a wonderfully fleshy finish without quite disintegrating and glazed with a delicate soy paste to give it a sweet but tangy flavor that has my saliva glands in overdrive at the memory.”

Reservations can be made a month in advance and because the restaurant provides intimate seating as well as a cozy sushi bar, reservations must be canceled within eight hours of your party’s arrival.
