Apolis: Community Centre
In New York’s Little Italy neighborhood in Soho, the Apolis: Community Centre opened as the brand’s second flagship retail space. The company, a socially motivated lifestyle brand that aims to empower communities worldwide, utilizes a model of advocacy through industry as its means to create social change all over the world. Apolis is governed by the simple idea that people can live better lives when they’re given equal access to the global marketplace. At Apolis: Community Centre, similar to its Apolis: Common Gallery in Los Angeles, the brand will continue to build on its mission by hosting skill-building workshops, live music, regular advocate keynotes, collection releases, third-party residences, and dinners — only now they’ll do it with fresh New York roots.
According to its site, the Apolis: Community Centre “will have similarities to our retail space in Los Angeles. Our friends and advocates in New York have urged us to create a similar space where people can gather, connect, and learn.” The location just recently opened on August 13, but has already planned a litany of exciting upcoming events to keep community members involved and engaged. For the month of September on Fridays only, the Apolis: Community Centre will offer interested guests a weekly workshop and barista training hosted by La Colombre Coffee Roasters and Compadres Coffee. On September 20, live music and a presentation hosted by Quincy Jones’ protégé Blind Pianist will take place. And currently on residence at the Community Centre is the TRNK Nyc reading lounge, with a library curated by author and attorney Kyle Westaway.
Hours for the Community Centre are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
