Oktoberfest 2016

Though it began days ago, Munich’s Oktoberfest remains in full effect until October 3. Taking place throughout the city, the upcoming events for the latter half of the festival promise an exciting taste of all Oktoberfest has to offer. On Tuesday, September 27, Munich will host its second family day with rides and performances at a discounted rate. On Monday, the final day of the city’s 18-day long festival, Oktoberfest will conclude with a traditional gun salute on the steps of the Bavaria monument.

Part of the fun of this year’s celebration is the unveiling of the 2016 Oktoberfest collector’s mug. Unveiled at the Bräurosl tent at the Theresienwiese, the Second Mayor of Munich and Oktoberfest boss Josef Schmid gave a welcome speech ahead of the event, followed by a speech by comedian Franziska Wanninger. Similar to the years before it, the 2016 mug’s logo was designed by Linda Sohpie Schultheis and Susan Schneider, two Munich art students from Akademie U5. The mug is available for purchase through the Oktoberfest site.
