The Off Season Action In The Major League Baseball?

Offseason has been quite busy for MLB teams, deals being signed, free-agents getting picked up here and there. The most talked about deals of the moment are Manny Machado’s ten years, three-hundred million dollar agreement with the San Diego Padres and Bryce Harper’s mega-deal with Philadelphia Phillies of three-hundred and thirty million dollars on a thirteen-year contract. These are the largest free-agent pacts in American sports history since the three-hundred and twenty-five million extension Giancarlo Stanton signed with the Marlins in 2015. Other deals that were signed off in the past few weeks: New York Yankees signed an extension with right-hander, Luis Severino to a four-year extension contract as well as signing James Paxton, traded with the Seattle Mariners. Then, Toronto Blue Jays traded Trent Thornton with the Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles traded Drew Jackson with the Philadelphia Phillies. Some free agents remain available to signing, Craig Michael Kimbrel, who was playing with the Boston Red Sox during the 2018 season as it seems they are leaning towards not re-signing him this season, and Dallas Keuchel also remains a free agent. On this related news, after twenty-five years, Bruce Bochy is set to retire and is the longest-tenured skipper and after being thirteen seasons with the Giants. It is said that Bochy is a surefire Hall of Famer. He experienced three World Series during his time and is said that he will continue to consult for the Giants after his retirement.

Major League Baseball Draft Landings 2019?

The first three picks of the season were Casey Mize, Joey Bart, and Alec Bohm. Top rank and favourite in the college draft to join the MLB for this season was Casey Mize, who played college baseball for the Auburn Tigers and signed with the Detroit Tigers. Mize was first picked, the first rank and chosen in the first round. He has proven to be able to stay healthy and has had no issues this year regarding a tired arm and flexor strain suffered last summer.

The second pick was Joey Bart, who was ranked sixth overall, signed with the San Francisco Giants in the first round. Bart’s batting speed, strength and leverage gave him power to all fields from the right side of the plate and has made huge strides with his plate discipline this spring.

The third pick was Alec Bohm was ranked seventh overall and was known to manage the strike zone very well, making consistent contact from the right side of the plate. Bohm signed with Philadelphia Phillies. In the second rank was Brady Singer, who was signed in round one to Kentucky City Royals, but surprisingly was picked eighteenth. He played a pivotal role in the University of Florida’s Gators win of the national title and it seemed he would have had the chance to be the number one overall pick in the draft, but a slow start to his junior season knocked him down to the second rank.
