Paris Fashion Week 2016

Beginning today in Paris, up-and-coming and legacy brands will begin the final installment of the whirlwind four-city long fashion-show season. But if Paris Fashion Week promises anything, it’s a commitment to new beginnings. Debuting his first collection as creative director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vacarello will lead his first campaign in the 7th arrondissement. A day later, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first female creative director to take the reins at Dior, will present her first collection for Dior. Pierpaolo Piccioli, who spent 17 years as co-creative director with Chiuri at Valentino, will hold his first-ever solo show for Valentino on Tuesday, October 4, according to the Hollywood Reporter. There’s even been murmurs that this year’s Valentino show will fall in line with the “see now, buy now” model many designers have adopted.

Named new artistic director of Lanvin in March, Bouchra Jarrar will show off her first collection for the legacy fashion house. And perhaps most notably, Rihanna will take to Paris Fashion Week to present her second Fenty x Puma Collection. The show, taking place mid-week, will host two back-to-back shows that will stream live through Tidal’s streaming service. Of the line, Rihanna told press she “approached this season very differently and felt the theme and concept was best suited for one of my favorite cities, Paris.” The show will officially close out Wednesday, October 5, and a full schedule of events can be found online.
