New York Fashion Week F/W 2017

Two days into the internationally acclaimed fashion week held in New York City, and already the fall/winter 2017 runways have given trendsetters and reviews much to talk about. Kicking off day one and two of the event, Tadashi Shoji, Rag & Bone, Calvin Klein, Club Monaco, Nicole Miller, Jeremy Scott, and Hakan Akkaya all reveled in ruby reds, crisp clean lines, and structured cuts. The week-long event is not without its politics, however. Anna Winter was spotted at a runway show wearing a Planned Parenthood pin, as more were handed out by the Council of Fashion Designers of America to the media, designers, press, and modeling agencies.

Calvin Klein’s runway was the first headed up by new chief creative officer Raf Simons, and the bright athletic stripes, abundance of vinyl, and eye-catching prints all hinted at a new era of style at the fashion house. This show in particular marked one of the first times the brand seamlessly combined men’s and women’s ready-to-wear looks.

On February 11, day three, Hanne Gaby Odiele will walk in Alexander Wang’s preview, and Christian Siriano, Simon Miller, Victoria Beckham, Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung, and Altuzarra will all debut upcoming fall/winter 2017 looks throughout the weekend. On Wednesday, February 15, Kanye West will unveil Yeezy Season 5, and Marc Jacobs and Gauntlett Cheng will help close out the festivities in New York on the February 16.
