NeueHouse Presents a New Take on the Modern Workspace

NeueHouse, near Madison Square Park, is the latest up-and-coming shared workspace aimed at innovators in the film, design, fashion, arts, tech and publishing space. The layout, though often associated with people who couldn’t afford their own space, is an attempt at recreating conventional workspace hubs.

Set up in a “series of spaces, experiences and amenities especially suited to ambition innovators,” NeueHouse has taken over a once-was light-industrial building, built in 1913, as its home for ‘solopreneurs’ and start-ups. Spanning over five floors, the founders of NeueHouse left the creative design in the hands of the Rockwell Group. Left with an open space, the theatre set designers mapped a series of rooms, spaces and environments through a clever combination of lighting and soft furnishings that both compliment and contrast with the conventional industrial setting. The aim is to promote collaboration and foster creativity among the teams that inhabit the space.

Discarding the idea and constraints of a traditional workspace, the non-corporate workplace looks more like a mid-century social club.
