Offseason Action By Whalgaming.com

Despite no games being played, the NBA was anything but dormant this offseason. Some of the best players in the NBA are now wearing different colors for the first time in their career. This offseason also included many very lucrative contracts being signed as well. Many notable roster changes include Lebron James to Los Angeles, DeMarcus Cousins to Golden State, DeAndre Jordan to Dallas, and DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio. These four contracts alone combined for more than $320 million US dollars. One of the biggest superstars in sports, small forward Lebron James is the biggest breadwinner of the bunch after signing a four-year contract for $154 million. Lebron is expected to take the Lakers to championship contention after not making the playoffs last season. Pairing up with Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, the Los Angeles Lakers could be a legitimate threat in the Western Conference. With many superstars from the Eastern Conference transferring over to the West this offseason, much of the talent in the NBA is one-sided. In the East, top organizations include the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. Boston has stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, are back playing together since the first game of 2017 when Hayward suffered a torn ACL injury. As for 76ers fans, many were upset about not being able to land Lebron James in Philadelphia. Although, the 76ers are extremely powerful with many of their young prospects coming into their own. With superstar center, Joel Embiid playing at an MVP level and after Ben Simmons’ rookie of the year performance, Philly is expecting to have an exiting 2018 season.

NBA Draft Landings by Whalegaming.com

With such an impressive draft class coming into the NBA, many young players are predicted to make a large impact for their new team. The first pick in this past NBA draft in June was DeAndre Ayton, a 7-foot tall center out of The University of Arizona. Ayton will be staying close to his former home in Arizona after being selected by the Phoenix Suns. Also, big names to look forward to seeing on the court includes point guard Trey Young for Atlanta, Mohamed Bamba in Orlando, and Marvin Bagley III to the Sacramento Kings. The Atlanta Hawks acquired Young from the Dallas Mavericks after originally selecting the number 3 overall pick, shooting guard Luka Doncic. Trey Young will be a great addition to Atlanta after trading away their previous point guard, Dennis Schroder, to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Mo Bamba, the 20-year-old and 7 foot tall center out of the University of Texas landed with the Orlando Magic. After only a year playing at the collegiate level, Bamba decided to forgo his final year of eligibility at the University of Texas for the NBA draft. The Magic selected the center sixth overall this past June and is expected to make a key impact on Orlando’s upcoming season. Marvin Bagley III was thought to be a first overall pick but ended up hearing his name called second overall by the Sacramento Kings. Bagley, the former ACC rookie of the year, has been impressing the NBA since his first game at Duke University. The 19-year-old now has a large role in the success and future of the Sacramento Kings.
