Land Rover Range Rover Sentinel

In a true labor of love, Land Rover’s all-new Range Rover Sentinel was constructed by hand at the company’s Oxford Road facility in the UK. The Sentinel was seamlessly crafted, simultaneously providing drivers tank-like protection while still offering the most in luxury. The SVU has been certified to the VR8 standard, which means it can withstand direct hits from armor-piercing bullets as well as blasts from grenade explosions. It may not sound like its made from a drive around town, but it more than excels at that, too.

Based on the construction of the Autobiography, the Sentinel is essentially the car of a military enthusiast’s dreams. It boasts an armored passenger shell crafted from high-strength steel and optical-quality armored privacy glass, a self-sealing fuel tank, anti-smash protective glass in the load space, special wheels with inserts that allow for driving even when the tires have been deflated, and an emergency escape system behind the rear seating.

John Edwards, the managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said “The new Range Rover Sentinel is one of the most extraordinary Range Rovers ever produced. It has been expertly engineered by Special Vehicle Operations to provide class leading levels of protection to occupants against extreme attack, whilst retaining the Range Rover’s luxury and refinement with off road capability.”

On sale for little over $600,000 USD, emergency lighting, external speakers, and a fire suppression system are also all available as specialty add-ons to the already incredible automobile. The Sentinel will make its grand debut in mid-September of 2015 at the Defense and Security Equipment International Exhibition in London.
