IWC Midsize Portofino

The launch of a new range, the stunning Midsize Automatic watch, marks a new era in the Portofino story — a story that has helped define the IWC’s collection of timepieces for more than 30 years. The Telegraph attended the launch event, sprinkled with notable names like Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor and Christoph Waltz, all of whom appear in the stunning new timepiece’s ad campaigns.

The Midsize, the Telegraph writes, marks a “departure from the solid, masculine aesthetic, with watches in slightly smaller dimensions lending a more feminine influence to the timepieces.” The Midsize Automatic Moon Phase is sold in stainless steel and is a particularly charming timepiece, and features a range of 12-66 diamonds patterned around the dial beautiful bound around the wrist by a textured alligator strap.

Unsurprisingly, that’s not all. It could also be sold in the Automatic Day and Night model, available in red gold or stainless steel, both with a 24-hour display. And while this marks a shift in IWC’s tasteful history, the beautiful watch maintains the brand’s effortless sophistication.
