For Sale: The Playboy Mansion

The original six-bedroom, 1927 English Manor-style home that’s housed more Bunnies than local zoos is for sale. Hefner’s real estate gem sits comfortably on more than five lush acres in Holmbly Hills in Los Angeles, California. The infamous Playboy Mansion, which has been the destination for some of the most defining and exciting parties in recent history, boasts roughly 20,000-square-feet of living space and features every amenity imaginable: a catering kitchen, home theater, separate game house, freeform swimming pool, the cave-like Grotto (which has become a destination within the home), and wine cellar.

When it was originally constructed the home had six bedrooms, but after Hefner and co.’s extensive renovations, the home now proudly fits 29 rooms and a four-bedroom guesthouse on the property as well. Unsurprisingly, it’s also one of the few private residences in L.A. with its own zoo license.

No official word yet on why the highly coveted home is up for grabs, but Playboy Estates, the owner of the property, is asking $200 million in the sale. And there’s an added catch. Sources say that the buyer will need to ensure that the godfather of the estate, Hugh Hefner, will be allowed to live out the rest of his days on the property.
