In Echo Park, Los Angeles, Anonymous Projects has given visual to an all-new 21st century home. Known affectionately as “Car Park House”, the LA-based home features a carport on its roof – a home only accessible by bridge. Car Park House sits eyelevel with the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance and offers ample natural light in the bedrooms and living spaces below.

According to the Anonymous project page, the project began with an empty lot and a steep down-slope. Placing the carport on the roof was a “logical response to the building code which requires parking for two vehicles.” The carport roof, which Anonymous promises makes driving home to park your car a surprise every time, doubles as usable deck space. Because of the home’s unique design – and its by-bridge-only access – Car Park House is a truly floating structure. Modern fixtures, hardwood flooring, a concrete foundation, and floor-to-ceiling windows abound.
