Audi’s New R8 V10 Plus

Audi’s fastest production car ever, the new R8 V10 Plus debuts as Audi’s most powerful production model to date. With a Quattro all-wheel drive, an S-tronic transmission that shifts gears in less than a 10 of a second when in dynamic mode, a stiffened steel-spring suspension, and racing-shell seating, the R8 V10 Plus is the most stunning, most fluid second-generation iteration of the jaw-dropping model. The car first went on sale in April for upwards of $190,000, and it’s worth every penny: it produces a 610 hp (60 hp more than its predecessor); is powered by a V-10 engine, which produces a 540 hp; features carbon fiber for the firewall as well as its splitter and rear wing; and the V10 Plus is 15 percent lighter than the earlier version.

According to Audi, the V10 Plus can reach 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and boasts a top speed of 205 mph overall. When pushed to its limits, the V10 Plus responds. Included among the upgrades made by the manufacturer are digital instrument clusters added to the dash; four control buttons on the steering wheel, which include one for the car’s driving mode and one for engaging the sport exhaust; and a more functional, crisper design. The engine of the V10 Plus also delivers more sound than the standard R8, thanks to the sport-exhaust feature and the dynamic sport mode, which is just one of four engine and transmission settings.
