Abandoned Building Turned Artist Loft by Mario Cucinella Architects

In the center of Bologna, in northern Italy, is the home of the immaculately redesigned brainchild of Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA). Cucinella transformed an abandoned old machine shop in the city center into a beautiful, light and airy loft apartment building. With windows stretching from floor to ceiling and doors leading outside to a breathtaking outdoor courtyard, the loft is an oasis for illustrative and creative minds.

Polished concrete floors and centuries old exposed brickwork pay tribute to the building’s industrial beginnings. Outfitted with white walls and concrete accents, a blend of antique, reclaimed and contemporary furnishings compliment the past, present and future of the space. In the lofted space sits the master bedroom, with a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the open living plan below.
