50 Years of the Pirelli Calendar
2015 marks 50 years of the Pirelli Calendar, one of the most sought-after exclusive coffee table calendars ever. First published in 1964, the calendar featured glamour shots of beautiful women and was reserved for important clients and VIPs within the industry. Today, the calendar has become a legend on its own, showcasing sought-after models throughout the rise and height of their careers.
The 50th edition, published by TASCHEN, brings together a retrospective volume of completed calendars, all photographed by Peter Beard, Richard Avedon, Nick Knight, Karl Lagerfeld, Sarah Moon, Terry Richardson, Mario Testino, Bruce Webber, Patrick Demarchelier, Annie Leibovitz, and dozens more. The prolific calendar includes captures of Penélope Cruz, Kate Moss, Sophia Loren, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen, and others.
It also includes never-before-seen images of behind-the-scenes photos from selected shoots, an unpublished copy of the 1963 calendar, and a select collection of images deemed too risqué for the calendar. Retailing between $45 and $65, the book is available for pre-order with a mid-September 2015 ship-date.
